Gold Scraps - Scrap Jewelry on sale at Ebay
I was doing a search today on ebay trends and I find out there is a lot of activity on the word "gold scrap". People selling their watches as scrap so the gold can be melted down. What is the exact after market for this? Better yet who is buying gold scrap? If anyone can answer these questions please let me know. I'm trying to figure out how a few auctions like these can cause such a stir on eBay.

Well after a bit of checking, I know I could have done this first. I stumbled across this wiki article on scrap gold. it gives pretty good information on what to expect and how to approach those old pieces of jewelry laying around the house.
It also states that selling scrap gold or other scrap jewelry tends to escalate during periods of war or inflation. Interesting to see ebay give such a subtle narration of public sentiment. I wander what the chart of scrap gold sales on ebay looks like for the past 8 years. I tend to think it's on the steady incline.
