Bracelets and Bangles

Someone who isn’t really a big fan of jewelry could easily mistake a bangle for a bracelet. But true connoisseurs know that the two as different as chalk and cheese. For instance, bangles are solid around the wrist. On the other hand, a bracelet is essentially a chain of small links and is therefore conforms to your wrist. Bracelets generally adorn the arm all by themselves but bangles drape in large identical groups. Some bracelets are stretchable, but there is no such luxury with bangles. Bracelets come in many shapes like oval, star shaped but bangles are usually circular. In other words, bracelet is the universal term used for arm jewelry (including armlets or upper arm bracelets) while bangle refers to a more particular type of arm jewelry traditionally worn by Indian women.
